Starring: Chris Rock, Julie Delpy, Albert Delpy, Alexia Landeau, Alexandre Nahon, Kate Burton
My thoughts on this film: It was interesting to see the combination of a French-American film; this turned out to be pretty funny, some bits were even hilarious; however, other parts were quite mushy, the scene where she almost falls from a tall building and is saved by her boyfriend has been done so many times that I actually started hoping she would fall and die for a change; I really like Chris Rock and I grew to like Julie Delpy in the last year, so I guess my hopes were probably too high leaving me a little disappointed in the end.

La princesse de Montpensier (Bertrand Tavernier, Jean Cosmos, Madame de La Fayette, François-Olivier Rousseau)
Starring: Mélanie Thierry, Lambert Wilson, Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet, Gaspard Ulliel, Raphaël Personnaz
My thoughts on this film: While this is not what I would usually consider to be excellent, I really liked the history therein, and I also related to the love story - it was not the usual mushy, romantic, teary film, but rather something very real nowadays, a woman who believed her true love felt the same way, but as soon as someone better (with more money) came along, he turned his back on her.
I believe this superb drama set in the 16th century is a unique movie worth seeing!

Starring: Cillian Murphy, Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver, Elizabeth Olsen, Toby Jones, Joely Richardson, Craig Roberts, Jeany Spark
My thoughts on this film: I totally loved De Niro in this and I must say that his brilliance at acting is what actually saved the movie, in my opinion.
I thought the whole concept was great - is there life after death? Are psychics for real? - therefore, I expected more from such a thriller with an amazing storyline and a brilliant cast. It had all the right ingredients!
The first part seemed ok, like it was going somewhere, with a few scary bits... But the second half became all messy with parts that did not make much sense and a twist at the end which really ruined it for me: I was left wondering what was the point?

Eight years on, a new terrorist leader - Bane - overwhelms Gotham's finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy.
Starring: Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Ben Mendelsohn, Daniel Sunjata
Why I loved this film: I am not a big 'Batman' fan, but the cast were absolutely amazing; the special effects were the best; and the plot was exciting throughout the entire movie, with no dead moments.
This will keep you on your seat the whole time, wondering what will happen next, but you are in for a surprise ending, indeed!

Three people living lives they never wanted, hiding secrets that even those closest to them would never suspect, will find that the past never truly fades away. Even as the terrible consequences of long-ago events crash together in the present and threaten to ruin lives, they will come to the startling realisation that they may not want to forget the past at all. And as each confronts the dark side of the American dream - the boredom of a nice suburban life, the excitement of temptation, the desperation and hunger that can lurk behind even the prettiest façades - they will discover the hard truth that the line between one kind of life and another can be as thin as a heartbeat.
Quote: "Oh, honey, I'm as messed up as the rest. I just learned not to care so much. You know? We fight wars for freedom, right, and then what do we do with that freedom? We tie ourselves down with possessions and debt and, well, other people. If I seem happy, it's because I do what I want when I want."
Why this book speaks to me: I am a big fan of crime/police fiction and this is another great one, with the additional peculiarity of having a totally surprising end - not expected at all.
It was very entertaining to read - a real page-turner - and I will definitely keep a watch for other Harlan Coben books!
