Private (James Patterson - with Maxine Paetro)
In L.A., Jack is already deep into the investigation of a multimillion-dollar NFL gambling scandal and the unsolved slayings of eighteen schoolgirls when he learns of a horrific murder close to home: His best friend's wife, Jack's former lover, has been killed. It nearly pushes him over the edge. Instead, Jack maintains his game and devotes all of Private's resources to tracking down her killer.
But Jack does not have to play by the rules. As he closes in on the killer and chooses between revenge and justice, Morgan has to navigate a workplace love affair that threatens to blow the roof off his plans...
Quote: "When a door says Private, you want to know what's on the other side.
When an envelope says Private, you immediately want to open it."
Why this book speaks to me: James Patterson is one of my favourite thriller writers and this book did not disappoint me in any way.
I love crime and suspense stories, trying to figure out who the killer is and going over all the required steps in order to finding that person. I probably should have been a detective.
Mr. Patterson managed to include three crime stories in a single book, which made it much more exciting as well as giving an insight into the thoughts of the leading character and how he manages to deal with his own personal problems: Love affairs and past situations while still in the army.
It was all pretty exciting... Once I started reading it was difficult to put the book down!
