Today we celebrate Oscar Wilde's 156th birthday. The much celebrated writer and poet was born in Dublin on October 16th, 1854, and is nowadays remembered for his plays as well as his imprisonment for "gross indecency with other men" and early death, at the age of forty-six.
In order to celebrate his birthday I decided to post the first ever Oscar Wilde play I read (in English class, at the age of 12 or 13), but even today I keep The importance of being Earnest and still find it amusing!
Quote: "The truth is rarely pure and never simple. Modern life would be very tedious if it were either, and modern literature a complete impossibility!"
